Tony Harmsworth - bestselling British author - Novel List

Tony Harmsworth – Novels (in publication date order)

MINDSLIP "Evolution's Nemesis" – a Wyndhamesque story set tomorrow or sooner, in which Betelgeuse turns supernova and causes all beings on Earth to swap minds. Male to female, child to adult, human to animal and vice versa. It is a preposterous story but is told in a deadpan manner which is totally believable. This is now book one in the Mindslip Universe Series.

THE VISITOR – A new take on first contact. Evelyn Slater, a dynamic woman astronaut sets out on a space junk collection mission from the International Space Station in the near future. The hard SF content has been meticulously researched. A small, badly damaged, ancient alien artefact is found in low-Earth orbit. A blanket of secrecy descends. When it breaks, Evelyn finds herself tasked with informing the world. It does not go well. This is Tony's bestselling novel.

THE DOOR – A fun SF story which introduces today’s environmental issues into a futuristic tale. The protagonist is a thirties, Englishman who, while walking his dog in a pleasant seaside town, allows his curiosity to get the better of his judgement. This book became a UK Kindle bestseller.

MOONSCAPE – This is the first book in the Mark Noble Edge of the Void series of six books. It begins in the near future with a mundane study of a crater just east of the first Moonbase. Apollo taught us that the moon is a dead world, so what has climbed out of the deep dust near the crater and attached itself to the wheel of Mark’s buggy? The answer is not good news.

FEDERATION – The first book of the Federation Trilogy. An empire of a quarter of a million worlds stumbles across the Earth. The oft-used ‘take me to your leader’ leads to panic. The world doesn’t have a leader, only many who like to think they are. The Federation has an economic system which is much-hated on Earth, and joining would require radical changes to the way our planet conducts its business and activities. Owing to the politics in this book, it is rather like Marmite and portrays extremely controversial ideas. You'll love it or hate it!

FEDERATION AND EARTH – Book two of the Federation Trilogy picks up the tale after the tragic end to book one. Earth has been banned from contact with other worlds. Politics is in chaos and disparate organisations try to bring some harmony to our fragmented world.

MOONSTRUCK – This was book two in the Mark Noble series, but has now been incorporated into Moonscape.

HIDDEN FEDERATION – The final volume, book three, in the Federation Trilogy follows the alien author during his visit to the Earth and he tries to discover how membership has changed the part of the world which has joined and how it is interacting with the United States of America which chose to remain independent

TRAPPIST-1 – The second book in the Mark Noble Edge of the Void series. Mary Carter's invention of the spolding drive sees the team heading on a test flight to Mars. Not uneventful, it leads to humankind and its entities navigating the first ever interstellar journey. Trappist one has numerous worlds in the goldilocks zone, but will any actually harbour life?

REPLICA PARADOX – The third of the Mark Noble Edge of the Void series finds our intrepid explorers lost. The spolding drive has created a serious anomoly. Can they find their way home before their supplies run out?

DARK LOGIC – The fourth of the Mark Noble Edge of the Void series. Two stories in a single volume. Firstly the team have to deal with a strange development on Earth which is preventing human spaceflight. In the second part of the story they track an interstellar visitor on its way to crash on Saturn. It leads to the discovery of what a civilisation does when its star is expanding at the end of its life.

HUBRIS EFFECT Book five in the Mark Noble Edge of the Void series – Again, two stories in a single volume. Initially the team return to the pristine Earth discovered at the end of Trappist-1. It appeared to be the perfect world to colonise - a planet without humans. However, it was not to be as simple as first thought. The second story sees the team called upon to help another expedition who appear to be trapped on an alien world which gives the impression of being a living entity. Two amazingly inventive stories.

HEAT "Beyond Mindslip" – This is the second book in the Mindslip Universe series. HEAT is more a progression than a sequel, but does include many of the original characters, only, this time, they are fighting another, totally unexpected effect of Betelgeuse turning supernova. It has been said that this is the best end-of-the-world novel since Neville Shute's On The Beach

KEPLER'S CHILDREN – Another stand alone novel, which is also book three in the Mindslip Universe series. During HEAT, one of the solutions to the climate problems is to abandon the Earth and search for a new home. Kepler's Children follows a group of humans who set off on a relativistic flight to another star. It doesn't go smoothly. The book is due for release around April 2026.the middle of 2025.

AUDIBLE – The Visitor, Federation, Federation & Earth, Hidden Federation, Mindslip, Moonscape, Moonstruck and Trappist-1 are now all available on Audible. Go to the individual book pages above and you'll find the audible versions
